Macbeth:

A Shakespeare Teen Intensive

Come act and direct Shakespeare's Macbeth with a musical twist! Deepen your understanding of classical text, and round out theatre skills, as you rehearse and perform in our staff-directed, Shakespeare production. Teens get on-the-job theatre and educational training as you learn to direct younger campers in scenes by the bard. You’ll get to show off all you’ve learned to friends and family on Friday, July 12th.

Animal Tales

Hop, slither, soar, and swing into an animal adventure! Campers will explore creative storytelling and improvisation, while enhancing vocal quality and physical self-awareness all at the same time! Using their imaginations campers will recreate animal tales from all over the world. Family and friends are invited on the last day to see them act out their favorite tales. This camp is perfect for new or returning campers.

A Shakespeare Camp

Bring classic theatre to life with a musical twist! Use your imagination, collaborate with your peers and perform William Shakespeare's Macbeth combined with original songs, set to contemporary music. Campers will gain a wide range of acting skills through both rehearsal and participation in specialized workshops including characterization, script analysis, voice and diction, and more! Friends and family are invited to an end-of-camp performance Friday, July 12th.

CAMP FULL Where filmmaking starts at ETC-on-Film! Our youngest ETC-on-Film campers will get a chance to be both behind the camera and on the screen. All campers write and storyboard films while learning filmmaking techniques and watching examples of good film. Then they form production teams and are in charge of shooting their own film! Finally, they edit their film to show at the final screening. Family and friends are invited to see campers on the big screen on Friday afternoon.

Intro to Film is an ETC STEAM Camp.

Camp Comedy

Make ‘em laugh! Improvise outlandish stories and characters, don ridiculous outfits, learn sketch, mime, standup, slapstick, or clown. When not clowning around, campers will have the chance to take their new comedy skills to the big screen in silent comedy films! It all culminates in our Performance and Screening, Friday, July 26.

Camp Comedy is an ETC STEAM Camp.

Camp Comedy Studios

Make your own movies, hilariously! Along with improv and other laugh-a-minute activities, all teens at Camp Comedy Studios make films. Rising 7th & 8th graders, aka ‘Cineastes’, learn to write, direct, & edit silent comedies in the classic style. Returning filmmakers ‘Auteurs’ learn to write a screenplay, direct, and edit longer original films known as their “Grand Opus” while also learning to record and edit sound. It all culminates in our Performance and Screening, Friday, July 26.

Learn to act on screen! Camp staff will work with each camper to hone their craft and learn to perform in a way appropriate to being captured on camera. This camp is perfect for beginners or campers who want more experience on screen with emphasis on understanding the shot, hitting their mark, and taking direction. Camp time will be split between workshops and acting exercises as well as actually acting in films! Acting on Screen campers will perform in the films made by Picture Up! filmmaking campers. Family and friends are invited to see campers on the big screen on Friday, August 9th.

Join ETC-on-Film for another week of filmmaking madness. Campers will focus on making films in various production roles, such as director, editor, writer, & director of photography, as they work to level up from Young Filmmakers, to Cineastes, to Auteurs. Any experience level is welcome so long as they’re passionate about filmmaking! Picture Up! Filmmakers will use campers from Acting on Screen as their actors. Collaborate with fellow filmmakers in the ever-growing ETC-on-Film Community! Family and friends are invited to see their films on Friday, August 9th.

Write an original play! Campers will be guided through writing their own lines, creating plot, characters and setting. They will work together to explore narrative structure, character development, conflict, and movement. A sharing will be held on the last day of camp.

Note: This camp has two different county locations. Week One will be focused on playwriting and held at Abingdon Elementary School. Week Two will be focused on rehearsing the original plays and held at the Fairlington Community Center. The sites are within 5 min of each other.

Any experience level is welcome. Family and friends are invited to a screening of the camper's films on Friday, August 16th.
