  • ETC Welcomes New Board Member and Announces New President

ETC introduces Stephanie Sampson as the new Chairman of the Board. Ms. Sampson has more than three decades of experience in communications, helping non-profit and government organizations focus on overall communications goals, strategies, and messages. She is a leader in local advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities, and is the author of Securing a Future for Your Child with a Disability: A Parent's Guide to Adult Services in Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax. Ms. Sampson has seen the value of ETC's approach by watching her daughter grow over the last 8 years from a camper and CIT at the Summer Classic and Summer Classic Teen camps to Camp Counselor at ETC Camp Comedy and Shakespeare's Shorts. Ms. Sampson has a Master's in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, and a Bachelor's from Smith College. She will replace former chair Joe Maddens in January 2013.

ETC also welcomes new board member Stewart Urist. Stewart originally hails from snowy Syracuse, New York and is a comparative newcomer both to mild Virginia weather and the ETC community. He arrived by way of NYC, where he spent his first few years following graduation from Gambier Ohio's Kenyon College as an actor and working at Broadway.com. A devoted student of and supporter of the arts, Stewart now works at Ford's Theatre and is hoping to enroll in Graduate school in order to study Arts Management. He is honored and excited to be able to work so closely with all of his knowledgeable colleagues on the ETC board and the dedicated and creative artists that make up our staff.

  • ETC Selected For 2012-2013 Catalogue for Philanthropy!

We're very proud to announce that ETC has been selected to be a featured non-profit in the 2012-2013 Greater Washington Catalogue for Philanthropy! Initiated and developed by the Harman Family in 2003, the Catalogue for Philanthropy highlights smaller, Washington DC area non-profits that represent the "range of good works" in the National Capital Area.

To earn this honor, ETC was reviewed by a panel of over 100 expert reviewers from area foundations, corporate giving programs and peer non-profit organizations. ETC was selected as one of 74 organizations to receive this honor in 2012-2013 from a pool of 220 applicants.

We were pleased to host a reviewer at our AHC, Hunter's Park Creative Age Sharing on Friday, May 11th, where she witnessed a moving and inspiring sharing of that community's life stories. In addition to taking in the fantastic work presented by the residents, the reviewer was able to make a visit to our new office space at Theatre on the Run.

We are honored to be selected to join the ranks as one of Greater Washington's Best Smaller Non-profits and we look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.
